GENRE: Documentary
PREMIERE STATUS:  N/A
RUN TIME: 99:44

DIRECTOR: Jonni Masella
CAST:

PRODUCER/S: Executive Producer/Jonni Masella – Producer/LeRoy McCarthy/ Associate Producer/ Margaret Romolo-Zukor

 SYNOPSIS:
“The Pride of DC: the hyde rugby” odyssey chronicles the journey of the first all African-American high school rugby team in the country, as they run, pass and tackle their way into new lessons about themselves, their community, and their humanity. Set in the backdrop of embattled Northeast Washington, DC, the film dances between the on-the-field dynamic of an ancient sport based around intense camaraderie, and the off-the-field challenges that a charter school (which places the development of character above, but not at the expense of, academics) faces as it explores the true meaning of education in a climate of immense struggle, offers a rare glimpse into the complexity of education itself, reaching beyond the classroom and into the hearts and minds of the community that surrounds it. The young players, in learning the game, witness the power of helping the person next to you, lifting each other up without precondition, and believing that a new way forward is possible. “The Pride of DC: the hyde rugby” comes with a dose of a hard-nosed reality. It hits hard, and hits home.

Lichtenstein has become a hermit, a recluse. Some time after his blockbuster was released to critical acclaim and major success, he developed a panic disorder. Unable to meet the demands of the big studios and feeling like he sold out, he seeks refuge at an undisclosed location somewhere in the USA out of sight from the paparazzi and away from the prying eyes of his large fan base consisting mostly of females. When one day his 'team' finally plucks up the courage, he is approached by his agent and convinced that he must return to the screen for a passion project. An indie. One that would cement his standing as one of the greatest actors there ever was and bring him back to his roots. This remake of a classic needs him. Can he summon up the courage? Will he once again claim his title as Steve “the Legend” Lichtenstein? Will he grace us with truth or will fear get the better of him?
